The Inner Gods

The Inner Gods are defined by psychological interactions and archetypes within the living, and represent the basic functions of intellect and emotion. The Inner Gods are not commonly known to exist by most mortals, and are only accessed through higher states of consciousness and communication by adepts, magic-users, and scholars, who may obtain some grasp of the realm in which they exist, known as The Inner Plane. The Inner Plane surrounds the well-known Astral Plane, and is an abstract field of energy, where the shapes of the Inner Gods are manifest to those who describe them as organs of energy, appearing as planet-sized hearts, brains, and symmetrical shapes.

The Inner Gods are the weavers of thought and emotion, and are channeled through the unconscious receptors of mortals. They do not shape the course of human interaction, but merely provide the building blocks of the intellect and instincts that drive humanoid activity. Within the Inner Plane, each of these Gods acts as the concentrated essence of these forces, and has an important influence over reality. While the Inner Gods and Goddesses are not usually worshipped or even acknowledged, they are known to have interacted with other Gods, and the Goddess Gazzilda, for example, was cast out of the Inner Plane for her scandalous involvement with the Outer God Zarkutha.
