Welcome to the Myriad

Welcome to the website of the fantasy setting known as The Myriad. This is a universe developed for use in RPG campaigns to offer detailed starting points for adventures in a unique imaginary land. The Myriad Compendium is a tome of maps, characters, groups, and creatures based on the homebrew campaign of the author. The main world for the adventure setting is Myricosa – an Earth-like world that is shaped like a polyhedral 20-side die. There are other worlds throughout the Myriad universe, each shaped like a different polyhedral die. Roll tables can be used to create unexpected quests, that leverage the lore of each region and develop complex plots quickly.

The Myriad Setting is influenced by many different fantasy authors and artists. I try to maintain a feeling of the traditional and familiar monsters and species from Dungeons and Dragons, while adding to the Mythos with unique species, NPCs, Gods, and societies. I envision it as a universe that is both a familiar and coherent environment, but also a place of foreign and unsuspected surprises. This setting draws heavily upon Cthulu Mythos, George R.R. Martin’s Song of Fire and Ice Series, Conan novels and movies, Soulsborne video game lore, the faerie realms of Brian Froud, Middle Earth Mythos, and the traditional mythologies of Earth. I aspire to maintain the tone of the original Dungeons and Dragons monsters and modules created by Gary Gygax. The Myriad offers a broad range of encounters, storylines, and ideas. I have illustrated this compilation heavily using AI art, to enhance the description of the content. The ideas and characters are my original concepts, and I have strived to produce art that is representative of the inhabitants of this realm as I imagine them to be. All maps, cities, characters, and descriptions were created by me, and are meant to enhance the realism of the setting. Most of the illustration content has been developed using Dall-E, Stable Diffusion, and a variety of image editing programs, including Photoshop, Gimp, ClipStudio, and Wonderdraft.

I hope you enjoy exploring this universe as much as I enjoy building it.
